What color is your hair?
This is the one that decides. IPL finds the pigment in the hair, so how much pigment you have is the whole answer.
It comes down to pigment.
The flash is absorbed by the melanin in the hair and carried down the shaft to the root. Darker hair carries more of it, so more of the light arrives where it does something.
It works on every skin tone. You set the level yourself, so this only changes how fast you climb the nine of them.
Blonde, red, grey and white hair carry too little pigment for the flash to find, whatever the device. No IPL brand solves this one.
Always wear the included eye protection. Patch test a small area at level 1 and leave it 24 hours before your first full session: redness that settles within a few hours is normal, but skin that is still red, sore, blistered or darker than the skin around it the next day means drop a level and test again. Not for use on tattoos, dark moles, or recently sun-exposed skin.
